Pediatric & Young Adult Endocrinology
Irregular periods, acne and unwanted hair growth are common reasons to come in. They are also the point where a careful evaluation matters most.

PMOS, previously known as PCOS, is diagnosed after other causes have been considered. In adolescents the criteria are different from adults, because irregular cycles are common in the first years after the first period.
The evaluation also covers thyroid, prolactin, adrenal causes and, when appropriate, the possibility of primary ovarian insufficiency.
My aim is that you leave understanding why the diagnosis does or does not fit, and what each treatment option is for.
Care is directed at the concerns that brought you in: cycles, skin, hair and metabolic health. Not at a label alone.
If your cycles are irregular, if a diagnosis was made without explanation, or if you want a second look at the evaluation, a consultation can clarify it.
Dr. Luisa F. González Ballesteros, MD
If the explanation you were given does not fit what you are seeing, a consultation can help you understand the pattern.
